This 1963 Chevrolet Impala hardtop coupe was acquired new by the seller’s grandparents from the Shepherd Chevrolet Company of Bethesda, Ohio, in October 1963, and it has remained in the same family since, with ownership passing to the seller in August 2021. The car is finished in blue with a white roof over a blue cloth and vinyl interior, and equipment includes power steering, a heater/defroster, and an AM radio. Power is provided by a 283ci V8 mated to a two-speed automatic transmission, and service in preparation for the sale included lubricating the chassis and changing the oil.
The pillarless hardtop body came in Silver Blue with an Ermine White top from the factory and is said to have been refinished in the original paint scheme during the early 2010s. Features include chrome bumpers, white-filled bright body-side moldings, triple-taillight groupings, and dual mirrors.
Color-keyed 14″ wheels are fitted with polished covers, branded center caps, and Goodyear Integrity whitewall tires. A spare is stowed on a shelf in the trunk.
The interior features bench seats trimmed in patterned blue cloth and vinyl as well as a matching dash pad, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include aluminum dashboard accents, a heater/defroster, and a push-button Delco AM radio.
A two-tone steering wheel with a semicircular horn ring fronts a 120-mph horizontal-sweep speedometer joined on the display panel by a fuel-level gauge, a quartet of warning lamps, and a clock. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles.
The 283ci Turbo-Fire V8 came equipped with a single Rochester two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 195 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. The oil is said to have been changed and the chassis lubricated in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission and a 3.36:1 final gear ratio.
Shepherd Chevrolet sales paperwork from October 1963 indicates that the vehicle’s original price was $2,760.25.
